Gardaí appeal for witnesses after woman (70s) injured during Dundalk robbery

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the robbery of a woman in her 70s in Dundalk town, Co Louth, on Thursday.

At around 3.45pm, the woman was approached by a male and robbed of her handbag at Longwalk, Dundalk.

The woman required medical treatment following the incident for injuries which are believed to be non-life threatening.

A male in his 20s was arrested in relation to the incident and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in Co Louth.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward, and for anyone with camera footage, or motorists with dashcam recordings from the Longwalk area of Dundalk between 3.30pm and 4pm are asked to contact Dundalk Garda Station on (042) 9388400, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any garda station.

Investigations are ongoing.
