Firefighters battle gorse fire on Dublin's Killiney hill

Several units of Dublin Fire Brigade spent much of the night fighting a major gorse fire in Killiney.

Three engines, a water tanker and a wildfire-response jeep attended the scene at Mullins Hill.

Responders said a strong wind also sent smoke across a wide area.

Firefighters remained at the scene throughout the night to deal with flare-ups.

Meanwhile, an investigation is underway after gardaí were called to a fire at the old Crumlin Shopping Centre.

Onlookers raised the alarm when they saw smoke coming from a number of vacant units shortly after 8pm on Monday.

The fire was brought under control, and there were no reports of injuries.
