Despite protests, asylum seekers will be housed as planned at properties in Coolock in Dublin and Dundrum, Co Tipperary.

This comes following violent scenes at the former Crown Paints site in recent weeks, that included arson attacks, while a number of gardaí were injured.

On Wednesday night in the High Court, residents of Dundrum, Co Tipperary were refused an injunction to stop asylum seekers being put up locally in the Dundrum House Hotel.

The Minister for Integration says they will continue to engage with communities about their concerns.

But Roderic O'Gorman said the state has an obligation to accommodate International Protection applicants.

“We will respond to the issues that protestors are raising. I’m clear we need to provide this accommodation, so families aren’t left homeless,” he told Newstalk on Thursday morning.
