Woman dies, two men airlifted to hospital following Carlow collision

A woman has died and two males have been injured in a two-vehicle collision in Co Carlow.

The incident involving a car and a van happened on the N80 in Ballintrane shortly before 6pm on Monday.

The driver of the car, a woman in her 30s, was treated by emergency services personnel at the scene but was later pronounced dead.

Two male occupants of the van were also seriously injured in the incident, and were airlifted to hospital from the scene.

Gardaí said the road in Ballintrane remains closed while a forensic examination of the scene is carried out, with local diversions in place.
