Man found dead after residential fire in Co Mayo

A man has died in a fire at a residential property in Co Mayo.

Gardaí were alerted to the fire in Ballina at approximately 8.15am on Thursday.

The man was found dead inside the property.

A second man has been taken to University Hospital Mayo with injuries.

Fire services extinguished the fire and made the area safe.

The scene is currently preserved for technical examination.

The body of the deceased remained at the scene at midday on Thursday.

Gardaí said enquiries into the matter are ongoing.
