A man in his 50s has been hospitalised following a collision between a bike and a car in Co Westmeath.

The cyclist sustained serious injuries in the incident on the Moat Road in Ballymore shortly before 1.30pm on Friday.

He was taken to Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore, where he is continuing to receive treatment.

No other injuries were reported from the incident.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses of the collision, including those with camera/dash-cam footage, to come forward.
