Woman (80s) dies after being hit by van in Carlow town

A woman in her 80s has died after being hit by a van in Carlow town.

The incident happened in an enclosed private car park in Presentation Place, College Street, at about 4.30pm on Thursday.

She was taken to St Luke's General Hospital in Kilkenny with serious injuries, and has since died.

A technical examination of the scene has been conducted, and enquiries are ongoing.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
