A man in his 20s has been arrested as part of an investigation into an assault in Dublin city centre last weekend.

He is being held at a Garda station in Dublin and is the fourth arrest connected to the incident.

A man in his 30s who was arrested on Monday has been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions, gardaí said.

The assault happened on O’Connell Street and Cathal Brugha Street on Sunday morning, during which a tourist aged in his 40s was injured. He remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was near the Living Room Bar, or Funland, opposite the Spire, between 12.40am and 1.00am on Sunday, to contact them.
