Gardaí have charged a man in connection with an assault of a man in Dublin in the early hours of Sunday.

Two men, aged in their 20s and 30s, were arrested in connection with this incident.

One of the men in his 20s has been charged and will appear in court on Monday morning. The second man in his 30s has been released from custody.

Investigations are ongoing, and a file will be prepared for the DPP.

The injured party, a man aged in his 40s, remains in hospital in a serious condition.

Gardaí are looking to speak with any individuals who were in the Cathal Brugha Street area, near the Living Room Bar, between 12:40am and 1:00am and any individuals who were on O’Connell Street Upper near the Spar Shop / Funland/ Tourism Office, opposite the Spire, between 12:40am and 1:00am Sunday morning.

Anyone who has camera footage (including dash cam) is asked to make this available to gardaí.
