A yellow rain warning is currently in place for Cork until this evening.

Met Éireann said persistent, and at times heavy, rainfall may give rise to spot flooding locally.

The warning is valid from 10:26am this morning to 9pm on Saturday evening.

On Saturday, rain and drizzle developing in Munster will slowly track northeastwards.

It will stay mainly dry with sunny spells in Ulster and north Leinster until evening. Highest temperatures 12 to 16 degrees in moderate, occasionally fresh, southeasterly winds.

Lingering rain in the north will clear to sunny spells and scattered showers during the morning and early afternoon on Sunday.

Some of the showers will be heavy or possibly thundery with a chance of spot flooding. Highest temperatures 14 to 17 degrees in light westerly or variable winds.

Sunny spells and showers on Monday, with the showers becoming lighter and more isolated through the day. Highest temperatures 13 to 16 degrees in moderate westerly winds.

Rain will arrive in the southwest later Monday evening or early Monday night extending countrywide overnight. Lowest temperatures 7 to 10 degrees in moderate southerly winds.

There will be heavy rain at times on Tuesday morning. Sunny spells will develop later as the rain clears to showers. Highest temperatures 16 to 18 degrees in moderate southwest winds.

There will be sunshine and showers on Wednesday. Highest temperatures 16 to 18 degrees, moderate westerly winds becoming moderate to fresh northwest.

Met Éireann said the signal for the extended outlook is for continued unsettled conditions with rain or showers.
