Cyclist (70s) dies after collision with car on Dublin's Dame Street

A cyclist has died after a collision with a car in Dublin city centre in the early hours of Saturday.

The man, aged in his 70s, was taken to St James' Hospital after the incident on Dame Street at about 5.25am. He was later pronounced dead in hospital.

The driver of the car is receiving medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries, gardaí said.

Dame Street was closed to traffic for much of Saturday morning but has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
