Infant boy killed in traffic incident in Co Clare

An infant boy has been killed in a traffic incident in Co Clare.

The incident took place in a residential area on the Quin Road in Ennis shortly before 12.30pm on Wednesday.

The infant was taken to University Hospital Limerick, but has since been pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.

The scene has been preserved pending a forensic examination.

Gardaí added a family liaison officer is being appointed to support the family.
