A man in his 30s has died after a collision between a car and a motorbike in Co Carlow.

The car was found burnt out at the scene.

Gardaí were called to the scene on a local road in Sandbrook at around 11pm on Wednesday night.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 30s, was killed. His body remains at the scene while a technical examination is carried out.

The car was found burnt out, and the occupants of the car failed to remain at the scene.

Gardaí are understood to be keeping an open mind in relation to the investigation.

The road remains closed.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who travelled on the Rathoe to Ballon road on Wednesday night to contact them.
