Three people have been injured, one of them seriously, after being attacked in Co Clare.

Two men burst into a shop and assaulted a man in his 20s and a teenage boy in Clarecastle shortly before 1pm on Sunday afternoon.

A woman in her 50s was also injured.

The man is being treated for serious injuries in hospital.

The boy in his late teens and the woman have been treated for non-life threatening injuries.

An incident room has been established at Ennis Garda Station and an investigation is continuing.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

People who were in Clarecastle between 12.45pm and 1:15pm on Sunday and who observed any activity which drew their attention are asked to come forward.
