A man has been arrested after the body of another man was discovered at a property in Naas, Co Kildare on Sunday.

Gardaí said the remains were discovered at around 1.30pm at a residence in Eustace Demesne in the town.

The man's body has been taken to the mortuary at Naas General Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out on Monday.

Gardaí said the results of the post-mortem will determine the course of their investigation.

The scene where the remains were found has been preserved for a technical examination, which is underway.

The arrested man, aged in his 40s, is currently detained at a Garda station in Kildare under provision of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Gardaí said no further information is available at this time.
