Woman (60s) arrested following €480,000 cannabis seizure at Shannon Airport

A woman has been arrested following a large cannabis seizure at Shannon Airport.

Approximately 23kg of herbal cannabis and 3.3kg of cannabis resin, worth an estimated €480,000, was discovered in luggage at the airport on Sunday.

The woman aged in her 60s was arrested and detained under section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

Gardaí said investigations into the matter are ongoing.
