Gardaí have arrested two men after cash and drugs seizures in Co Westmeath.

Officers stopped and searched a car on the Dublin Road in Mullingar on Monday evening and found €62,000 in cash.

A man in his 30s was arrested and later charged and is due before Longford District Court on Tuesday morning.

During follow-up searches at two properties in Westmeath, cannabis worth €20,000 was recovered along with quantities of suspected cocaine and magic mushrooms.

A man in his 20s was arrested and is still being questioned by gardaí.
