Gardaí are investigating the discovery of a man's body in Co Leitrim.

The remains of the man in his 40s were discovered on "open land" in Kiltyclogher on Saturday afternoon.

The scene has been sealed off for a technical exam and a postmortem will be carried out.

Gardaí said the results of this will determine the course of their investigation.

A Garda statement read: "Gardaí in Kinlough are investigating all the circumstances in relation to the discovery of a body of a man on open land in Kiltyclogher, Co. Leitrim on the afternoon of Saturday 2nd March, 2024.

"Investigations are ongoing.”
