Arrest made after teenager sustains stab wounds in Kerry

A teenage boy has been injured in a suspected stabbing incident in Co Kerry.

Gardaí confirmed officers responded to reports of the incident in Cahersiveen at around 2.20am on Monday.

A male aged in his late teens was taken to University Hospital Kerry for treatment for "apparent stab wounds".

Gardaí said his injuries are understood to be serious, but added he is currently in a stable condition.

A man aged in his 50s has been arrested in connection with the incident and is detained at a Garda station in Kerry under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Investigations into the matter remain ongoing.
