A man has been hospitalised following an assault in Dublin city centre.

Gardaí were alerted to the incident at a commercial premises on Liffey Street Lower at around 12.40am this morning.

A man in his 20s was taken to the Mater Hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.

A second man in his 20s was arrested at the scene and is detained at a Garda station in the Dublin area.

He has since been charged and is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice tomorrow morning.
