Gardaí are appealing for information after a pedestrian was seriously injured in a collision involving a car in Co Cork.

The incident happened at Upper Cork Hill in Youghal, shortly before 6.30pm on Thursday.

A male pedestrian, aged in his 60s, was seriously injured in the incident and was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment.

Gardaí said no other injuries were reported from the crash.

The road has been closed while a technical examination is carried out, with local diversions in place.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact Cobh Garda station on 021-490 8530, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666 111, or any Garda station.
