A man has been killed following a single-vehicle crash in Co Roscommon.

The man, aged in his late 70s, was the driver and sole occupant in the vehicle involved in the crash on a local road in Frenchpark on Saturday evening.

Emergency services attended the scene shortly before 2pm, and the man was taken to Sligo University Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The scene has been preserved pending a forensic examination, and local diversion have been put in place.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to contact Castlerea Garda station on 094-962 1630, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800-666 111, or any Garda station.
