One man has been arrested following a seizure of over €300,000 worth of heroin in Dublin city.

The drugs were found during an operation in Smithfield on Saturday, in which gardaí from Bridewell Garda station carried out a search at an apartment.

The heroine was seized at the property, along with a quantity of cocaine and items related to the street supply of illegal drugs.

A man in his 30s was arrested in connection with the seizure and has been detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

The seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis and gardaí said investigations into the matter are ongoing.
