Bank holiday parade to honour women in Dublin

A parade celebrating women will form part of the schedule for a Dublin City festival which will run across the February bank holiday weekend.
The third annual Brigit: Dublin City Celebrating Women will feature more than 60 events across the city beginning on February 1st and finishing on February 5th.
The Dublin City Council event is named after the Celtic goddess Brigit and is intended to spotlight women’s stories, underscoring their impact on society and heralding the arrival of spring.
Commenting on the initiative, Lord Mayor of Dublin Daithi de Roiste said the city-wide programme is the biggest so far.
He added: “Brigit 2024 gives us the opportunity to acknowledge the contributions and achievements of Irish women both past and present and to celebrate the impact these continue to make on our society. ”
For the first time, a Brigit – Dublin City Celebrating Women Parade will weave through the heart of Dublin City on Bank Holiday Monday, starting at 4pm.
Kicking off at Wolfe Tone Square, an eclectic mix of walkers, rollerskaters, cyclists and performers will stroll through the heart of Dublin in a tribute to inspiring women.
The parade will culminate at the famous GPO on O’Connell Street.
It will be followed by the Brigit Rising Concert at the Abbey Presbyterian Church at 7.30pm, featuring Dublin-born singer and composer Rachael Lavelle, Dublin alt-pop band Soda Blonde, and poet Laoighseach Ní Choistealbha
