A man an a woman have been hospitalised following a fire in Cork city.

The blaze broke out at a residence on Dyke Parade shortly before 6.30pm on Monday.

Emergency services attended the scene, and the pair were taken to Mercy University Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Gardaí said the scene has been preserved to allow for a technical examination to take place and investigations are ongoing.
