Rain warning in place for parts of Co Galway

Met Éireann has issued a rain warning for west Galway.

The forecaster said there will be heavy, blustery rain with spot flooding in the county throughout Sunday.

It also warned of high spring tides with very strong and gusty southwest winds.

The status-yellow warning is valid from 7am until 9pm on Sunday.

Elsewhere, Sunday will be breezy with outbreaks of heavy rain across much of Connacht, west Ulster and west Munster.

It will be drier elsewhere until later on with just a little patchy drizzle. Mild with highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees.

Monday will be mostly cloudy with some scattered outbreaks of rain or drizzle.

The rain will become largely confined to parts of Munster and south Leinster later.

Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees early on in moderate to fresh southwest winds, veering westerly and decreasing mostly light to moderate.

The overall outlook is changeable and rather windy at times.

On Tuesday, there will be spells of heavy rain in the south for a time, but brighter, colder weather elsewhere will follow to all parts in the afternoon, as the rain clears southeastwards.

There is the potential for a scattering of showers too, especially in the north and west. Highest afternoon temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in moderate west to northwest winds, freshening later in the north and west.

On Tuesday night, there will be some clear spells, but it's likely to become cloudier through the night with some scattered outbreaks of rain.

Lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees early in the night, but becoming milder overnight. Becoming breezy too with moderate to fresh westerly winds, stronger in the north and in western coastal parts.
