Jewellery worth €50,000 stolen from Athlone jewellery shop

Jewellery estimated to be worth up to €50,000 was stolen from an Athlone jewellery stop in Golden Island Shopping Centre.

It is understood that three masked men gained entry through the rear of the shopping centre between 3 and 3.15 a.m on Thursday morning.

According to the Roscommon Herald, several items believed to be worth up to €50,000 were taken in the raid.

Gardaí are currently checking CCTV, but there are no descriptions of the thieves as they were wearing masks and gloves.

Gardaí appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time or may have CCTV or dashcam footage or any other information to contact them at Athlone Garda Station.
