Gardaí arrested two men, aged in their 20s, and seized cannabis plants worth over €195,000 in Co Cavan on Thursday.

The operation was carried out with a number of local units including the Armed Support Unit and Garda Dog Unit.

Following a search of a residence in Arva, Co Cavan, a growhouse was discovered by gardaí. A total of 244 cannabis plants were seized with an estimated value of €195,200.

Follow-up searches were carried out at a number of other locations in Cavan which resulted in a €2,000 seizure of cannabis herb along with €2,750 in cash.

The drugs will now undergo further analysis with Forensic Science Ireland.

The two men are currently detained at a garda station in Cavan.
