A suspicious device was found in a Cork suburb on Wednesday night.

The Army Bomb Disposal Team were alerted to the incident on Thomas Davis Street in Blackpool after gardaí received reports of a suspicious device in the area.

Roads were closed around Blackpool while the Army carried out the search and a device was removed from the area for further examination.

The Defence Forces said the operation is now over and the area is open to the public once again.
