Three warnings have been issued for rain as wet conditions which brought severe flooding to parts of the country earlier this week look set to continue.

An orange rain warning has been put in place for Kilkenny, Wexford and Waterford from 4am on Monday, lasting until 4am on Tuesday.

Met Éireann warned the heavy and persistent rain with thundery downpours will likely bring flooding, poor visibility and dangerous travel conditions.

Elsewhere, a yellow warning for Clare, Limerick, Cork, Kerry, Tipperary and Galway will take effect from 6pm on Sunday, and will remain in place until 6pm on Monday.

There will again be a risk of localised flooding, particularly in areas which are already waterlogged from heavy rain which fell during Storm Babet.

Finally, a similar yellow alert for rain will also cover Carlow, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Offaly, Westmeath, Wicklow and Roscommon from 4am on Monday to 4am on Tuesday.

The forecaster said counties covered by the yellow alerts will see heavy rain at times, with possible thunder.
