Woman (32) who died after Bordeaux botulism outbreak married to Irish rugby fan

A 32-year-old woman has died after contracting botulism in Bordeaux.
Her Irish husband remains in intensive care in Paris following the outbreak which has affected a number of Irish rugby fans.
It is understood the couple travelled to Bordeaux last weekend, to attend Ireland’s opening match in the Rugby World Cup.
The HSE has confirmed that a few Irish people are being treated for botulism symptoms. Another Irishman is being treated in intensive care in Barcelona.
In a statement on Tuesday evening, the French health ministry said 10 cases of botulism had been confirmed.
The ARS Nouvelle-Aquitaine, a local health authority, said the outbreak is linked to a wine bar in Bordeaux. It said the patients included people from America, Canada and Germany, who had been socialising in the Tchin Tchin Wine Bar.
Ireland opened their Rugby World Cup campaign with an 82-8 victory over Romania in Bordeaux.
Most cases of botulism come from food that has been improperly preserved, including fruits, vegetables, and fish.
Initial symptoms include difficulty swallowing, muscle weakness, double vision, drooping eyelids, blurry vision, slurred speech, difficulty breathing, and difficulty moving the eyes.
