A girl has been rushed to hospital following an incident at a house in Co Clare on Tuesday morning.

A woman was also found unconscious at the scene at a property in Clarecastle.

Gardaí said the girl was discovered with serious injuries and was removed to University Hospital Limerick where she remains in a critical condition.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 8am on Tuesday.

Gardaí have established an incident room in Ennis Garda Station. A family liaison officer has been appointed to the family.

The scene currently remains preserved and is being examined by officers, gardaí said.
