Myles Smith cancels show due to ‘major family health issue’

Myles Smith has cancelled a show due to a “major family health issue”.
Last month, the British singer released his debut album My Mess, My Heart, My Life, and has embarked on a tour to promote it.
However, he has now shared a statement after cancelling a concert in Vancouver, Canada, which was due to be held on August 4.
Posting on Instagram, he said: “To everyone who was planning on coming to the Vancouver show. You may have received a notification that the show has been cancelled. I wanted to explain why, because I never want to leave you in the dark.
“There has been a major family health issue at home, and important appointments are taking place on that date. I simply can’t not be there. Family has to come first, and this wasn’t a decision I made lightly.
“I know many of you have spent your hard-earned money, made travel plans and set aside time to be there. The fact that you continue to show up for me means more than I can put into words, and I never want to take that for granted or lose the trust we’ve built together.”
He continued: “I also want to reassure everyone with tickets for the shows after Vancouver that this decision is specific to this date because of those appointments. As things stand, the rest of the shows are going ahead as planned, and I can’t wait to see you. Thank you for your understanding, your patience, and for always supporting me. It truly means the world.”
Smith then shared another post in which he said he wanted to “say one more thing”.
He wrote: “I will always try to be as open and transparent with you as I can. I respect you all too much not to be. I would never cancel a show unless I absolutely had to.
The singer went on to say that over the past four years he has been “lucky enough” to play more than 400 shows and had only ever cancelled four – which he said were “all for reasons completely out of my control”.
“I don’t say that to make excuses, but to show you how seriously I take the commitment of showing up for you.
“I’ve already seen some of the frustration and disappointment, and I completely understand it. If you’d booked time off, travelled, or spent money to be there, I’d feel exactly the same. I’m not asking for anybody to feel sorry for me! I just wanted to give you as much information as I could, because I believe that’s what you deserve. Whilst trying to maintain the privacy of the circumstances back home.”
He concluded: “I’m truly sorry and I’ll be back as soon as it’s feasibly possible. Thank you for continuing to support me. It means more than you’ll ever know.”
Earlier this month, Smith shared a post on Instagram in which he explained that he had gone home for a few days to “be with the people I love”.
“There’s a lot going on in my personal life right now. I’ll probably talk about it when the time feels right, but for now I’m just trying to take things one day at a time,” he wrote.
“Before I left, the people closest to me told me something I won’t forget: don’t rob yourself of the dream you’ve worked so hard for just because life is heavy back home.”
Smith then thanked his fans for “carrying him through” a show the night before.
He is next due to play in Sacramento, California, on Tuesday night.
The UK leg of his tour will kick off in Kingston on October 1, eventually wrapping up in London on November 20th.
Smith is best known for his 2024 singles Stargazing and Nice To Meet You.
He received three nominations at the 2025 Brit Awards and also won the Rising Star award.
