Boy George says he wants to write British Eurovision entry

Boy George has revealed he wants to write the British entry for the Eurovision Song Contest.
The Culture Club frontman spoke about how the competition is “not an even playing field”, before announcing he would like to pen the song for the UK.
The Karma Chameleon singer was eliminated in the first semi-final of this year’s contest, having joined San Marino’s entrant Senhit to perform the song Superstar, which he co-wrote.
Asked whether he enjoyed the competition on The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X, Boy George said: “I absolutely did, you know. I wanted to go, and it was really mad.
“I mean, I would have liked to have got through to the final to see whether we got any of the nul points, or whatever.
“Because that’s what you go for. I want to find out – would we have got any points? But I will say something a little bit controversial. If five countries can get into the show without any process, how’s that a competition? Just saying.”
He said it is “weird that it’s not an even playing field”, before adding: “I’d like to write the British entry. That’s something I would like to do, so I’m putting it out in there.”
The singer said he does not know why the UK is “so unpopular” in the competition, adding: “Come on, we’ve given the world such great music. We’re known for our great music.”
The UK is part of the “Big Five” guaranteed entry into the final of the song contest thanks to the level of their financial contribution to the European Broadcasting Union.
The other countries that automatically qualify are France, Germany, Italy, and Spain.
