Jessie J says she ‘sobbed for hours’ after learning she is cancer free

Singer Jessie J has revealed she is officially cancer free, saying she “sobbed for hours” after receiving the all-clear.
The 37-year-old, whose real name is Jessica Cornish, announced last year she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and temporarily stepped back from performing to undergo treatment.
Sharing the update on Instagram after attending a check-up and MRI, Cornish wrote: “RESULTS ARE IN AND I AM CANCER FREE !!
“I sobbed for hours and then exhaled for the first time in a year.”
In a clip shared alongside the post, the singer admitted she was nervous about the results.
“I’m actually s****ing myself, I’m not gonna lie,” she said.
The mother-of-one later told fans she had her “fingers crossed” and was sending out “good vibes” during the appointment.
Cornish has spoken openly about her health struggles through the years, having been diagnosed with a heart condition aged eight, suffering a minor stroke at 18 and briefly losing her hearing in 2020.
Announcing her cancer diagnosis on social media in June, the Price Tag singer told fans at the time she’d been “in and out” of tests.
The 37-year-old said: “I was diagnosed with early breast cancer.
“Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding on to the word ‘early’.”
In August, Cornish said she had to undergo a second operation and postponed an upcoming tour.
The singer-songwriter returned to the stage in September at BBC Radio 2 in the Park in Chelmsford.
She told Women’s Health UK in December: “Since I was young, so many things have happened to me. I’ve always had obscure health issues that (doctors) can’t figure out.
“Nothing has broken me.
“I believe I’ve gone through all the things I have to help people. Even if it’s just to write songs about it.”
Cornish has had three number one songs in the UK singles chart with Domino, Price Tag and Bang Bang.
She was awarded four Mobo awards in 2011 including best UK act, best newcomer, best song for Do It Like A Dude and best album for Who You Are – and won the Brit Award for rising star in 2011.
Her latest album, Don’t Tease Me With A Good Time, was released in November 2025.
