Singer Billie Eilish says James Cameron emailed her mother to suggest movie

Singer Billie Eilish has said her new concert film came about after award-winning director James Cameron emailed her mother to suggest the idea.
The 3D film, Hit Me Hard And Soft: The Tour, was released earlier this week, and saw Eilish direct and produce the project alongside Cameron, known for blockbusters including Avatar and Titanic.
In a radio interview with Capital Breakfast, Eilish was asked whose idea the movie was.
She told presenter Jordan North: “It was James Cameron’s idea. He literally came to my mum. I had no plans to make any kind of film of the tour.
“And then my mum was at my house one day, after I’d already been on tour for like a year, and she goes ‘Billie I got an email from James Cameron.’”
“So, then we just got on the phone and talked about it and I can’t even believe that that happened and now it’s done, and here it is.”
The American singer, known for hits including Ocean Eyes and Bad Guy, said she loved the thought that the movie meant her latest headlining tour would “live on forever”.
“I get to have this forever and the fans get to have it,” she told Capital.
“It’s pretty cool that it’s going to exist forever for me to watch.
“And I think what’s really special about it being 3D is feeling like we’re right there.
“It was a really special tour and a show that I felt really proud of and I’m really grateful and excited for it to live on forever.”
Eilish also spoke of joining Justin Bieber on stage at last month’s Coachella festival in California, which she said was only suggested to her moments beforehand.
She described the moment as a “life-changing dream”, adding that she was so overcome with emotion that “my legs gave out”.
She told North: “I can’t actually believe that I lived it. I can’t even think about it. I can’t even talk about it. I can’t even look at the videos, it’s too intense for me.”
