US pop star Pink has said it is “the honour of a lifetime” to be announced as the host of the 2026 Tony Awards, which celebrate achievements in American theatre and on Broadway.

The Grammy-winning singer, 46, who is known for hits including Just Like A Pill and So What, will lead the event being held at the Radio City Music Hall in New York on June 7.

Pink, born Alecia Beth Moore, has not made her theatre debut but expressed her love for Broadway and said she “cannot wait” to host the ceremony.

The chart-topping star said: “It is the honour of an entire lifetime to host a night celebrating the literal hardest-working people in showbiz.

“Broadway has shaped my life and how I put my own shows together – it is a community that is supportive, and inclusive, and full of talent and love. These people give magic every single day, and I cannot wait to celebrate them with the entire world.”

She added that her daughter was “really excited about being able to have a ticket to go to the Tonys” after she was offered the gig, and joked: “I’m really, really excited and very nervous because that girl is a tough crowd.”

Moore also shared the news with her 11.9 million Instagram followers on Thursday, with a video of her sneaking on stage during a performance of The Great Gatsby on Broadway.

She wrote: “When I was asked to host @thetonyawards, my first question was — don’t you need to have been on Broadway for this? So I went ahead and fixed that. Kind of. And now I’m hosting the Tony Awards.

“The Broadway community is the hardest working in showbiz. They show up every single night, sometimes twice, and make absolute magic.”

“I cannot wait to celebrate them all with you on Sunday June 7th on CBS.”

Raj Kapoor, Sarah Levine Hall and Jack Sussman, executive producers of the Tony Awards, said: “We are thrilled to welcome the incomparable Pink as the host of this year’s Tony Awards – a fearless artist whose powerhouse voice, electrifying stage presence, and undeniable authenticity embody the very spirit of live performance and theatre.

“A passionate fan of Broadway, she brings a genuine love for the art form alongside her bold creativity and deep connection to audiences around the world, and we know she will deliver a fresh, dynamic energy to Broadway’s biggest night.”
