American singer Olivia Rodrigo has announced she will serve as both host and musical guest on long-running US sketch show Saturday Night Live (SNL).

The 23-year-old, known for hit songs Good 4 You and Driver’s Licence, will appear on the May 2nd episode of SNL, marking her hosting debut and her first time pulling “double duty” on the show.

The announcement comes after the singer recently revealed her highly anticipated third album – You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love – will be released on June 12th.

The Grammy-winner has previously appeared twice on the popular sketch show as a musical guest, in May 2021 and December 2023.

She announced the news on Instagram on Wednesday, with a photo shared to her almost 40 million followers with her name in both the host and musical guest slot.

Referencing the city where SNL is filmed, the singer wrote in the caption: “Massive dream come true. See you soon NYC.”

Rodrigo, who starred in the Disney+ series High School Musical: The Musical: The Series as a teenager, rose to fame after releasing her award-winning 2021 single Driver’s Licence.

The song shot to number one in the UK singles chart and was followed by her debut album Sour, which also made it to the top of the UK chart and won the best pop vocal album and best new artist Grammy in 2022.

The star also headlined at Glastonbury Festival and BST Hyde Park last year.
