A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is becoming a great show in its own right and other Game of Thrones spin-offs have a lot to learn.

While House of the Dragon has received mixed reviews, the latest Westerosi adventure has earned nothing but rave reviews with episode five easily the best yet.

Before you read on, there are spoilers in this review if you are not up to date with A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

In the Name of the Mother saw Ser Duncan The Tall (Peter Claffey) and his six companions go up against the villanous Aerion Targaryen (Finn Bennett) and his chosen knights.

First we get a flashback to the young Dunk and the trauma that shaped him, before returning to the battle.

Finn Bennett as Aerion Targaryen.

The close combat scenes are stunning and comparable to anything we saw in Game of Thrones.

Just as it appears Dunk has fallen at the last hurdle, his faithful squire Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell) rouses him by roaring 'get up', just as Ser Arlan did in the past.

He betters Aerion, and forces him into a humiliating surrender.

Just as it appears Baelor Targaryen (Bertie Carvel) is about to offer Dunk a once in a lifetime chance, his own life comes to a premature and grotesque end.

Sunday's episode will be the last in season one, and it is sure to leave fans wanting more.
