Love Island star Jack Fincham has said he believes he would have had the same addiction issues even if he had not found fame on television.

The TV personality, who won the show with Dani Dyer in 2018, said he will return to rehab for two months after relapsing.

Fincham, 34, said his previous stint at rehab was unsuccessful because he did not believe it was necessary.

He told ITV’s Good Morning Britain: “I’ll be honest, I didn’t really think I had a problem. I didn’t feel I had an issue.

“So, I only went for two weeks and I was adamant I’m going home, I don’t need this, I’m fine. When, actually, this has been a part of my personality ever since my adult life, really.”

Asked whether he associates his addiction issues with finding fame so suddenly on the ITV2 dating show, he said: “No, it just obviously gave me more means to be able to do more of whatever it was I was doing.

“It’s messed up thousands of opportunities.

“But this time round, two months away, miles, miles, miles up north, 600 acres of land, how grateful I am to be even sat here talking about it?

“You get your online trolls that say why are we even giving this guy a platform?

“But, unfortunately for them, I have got a platform, and if I can help one person, then I’ve done my job.”

Last year Fincham avoided a six-week jail term for dangerous dog offences after he won an appeal against his prison sentence and walked free from court.

He had previously been given a suspended sentence for driving offences including drug-driving and was given an extension to his suspended sentence order instead.

Fincham and Dyer won Love Island after finding love in the villa in 2018 but the couple split the following year.

Dyer is now married to footballer Jarrod Bowen.
