So far this year 14,307 new electric cars have been registered, up 69.39% on 2022.

A German court has ruled former Volkswagen chief executive Martin Winterkorn must face trial on a second set of charges in the company’s diesel emissions scandal.

Charges have been filed against eight more Volkswagen employees accused of involvement in the company’s diesel scandal. Prosecutors in Braunschweig did not identify the eight, who they said include managers, citing German privacy rules.

Volkswagen has recorded an after-tax loss of 1. 54 billion euro (£1. 39 billion) in the second quarter as the coronavirus pandemic shut down factories and closed dealerships.
