A path had been worn from people visiting the grave since the skulls’ return this summer.

Trinity College made the decision to return the thirteen skulls to Inishbofin after a working group examined the legacy issue.

The university is formally reviewing legacy issues since its foundation in 1592, including that of skulls taken from the island of Inishbofin.
