The Management of Fota campsite have just reported their most successful year to date in their recent annual report.

The Irish Scout Jamboree which will have 5,000 participants is getting closer and closer. From July 25 to August 2, over 5,000 Scouts and Venture Scouts from Ireland and overseas will take over the Electric Picnic site at Stradbally Hall, Co. Laois.

Last week at a special ceremony at the Togher Scout Centre two leaders in the Cub Scout Section were presented with their Woodbadge and certificate which signifies a fully trained and qualified leader in Scouting.

This week we are taking a look back in time to 1981 to highlight some of the events in that year.  In Cork, we are fortunate to have the Walter McGrath Scout Museum based at the Togher Scout Centre.

The scouts and Cub Scouts from the 71st Cork (Mayfield) were out in style last weekend with the Cub Scouts spending an activity weekend at Kilcully campsite.

GREAT TURNOUT FOR LEE VALLEY COUNTYLast weekend it was the turn for the Lee Valley to hold their annual camping weekend for all age group in the country.

It was the end of an era at the presentation of annual awards at the Togher Scout Centre on Wednesday evening last when two council members with exceptional service were guests of honour.

The Southern Provincial Conference held at Kilcully Campsite was very well attended with a host of National figures and speakers present.  There were two streams on the day covering Programme related matters and the Governance Review.

September is the start of the scouting year like all the schools around the country.  From tonight, all the various age groups will start back for another exciting year of fun, adventure and learning.
