THEATRE

Saturday

The Sound Of Music, Cork Opera House, €35-50, 2pm & 7pm: Matinee and evening performances of the venue’s summer blockbuster, with tickets selling fast. Also on Sunday at 1pm & 6pm.

Missing, Ballydehob Hall, €17.50, 3pm & 8pm: Written and performed by award-winning choreographer, and founder of Croí Glan, Tara Brandel, this looks at pivotal queer women whose voices and stories have been erased from history. The Prometheus Project: The Opportunist And Wellness, Dance Cork Firkin Crane, €20, 2pm & 7pm: This adaptation of the classic story of the god who gave fire to humans focuses on two people preparing to lose power. Final showing.

Four Faced Liar, Cork Arts Theatre, €18, 8pm: a last chance to see Ger Fitzgibbon’s play - a night journey through the landscape of Cork city and its inhabitants.

MUSIC

Saturday

Tides Of Tradition, Briery Gap, Macroom, €37, 8pm: An exciting new Irish music and dance production that celebrates the rich heritage and evolving spirit of Ireland.

Meet The Fawkers, Fred Zeppelins, €10, 8.30pm: Galway-based band praised for their “high-energy punch” and “no-holds-barred attitude.” Expect a loud, electric night packed with swagger, chaos, and crowd-shaking anthems.

Sunday

Beth Orton and Sam Amidon, Skibbereen Town Hall, €35, 8pm: The musicians team up for a concert as part of Skibbereen Arts Festival. See www.skibbereenartsfestival.com for more on the festival.

Mark O’Keeffe, Dave Savage, Maanadh, and James Hopkins, City Limits - The Comedy Club, 8.45pm: O’Keeffe is a regular on the Edinburgh Fringe, while Maanadh is an expert at describing in witty style his experiences as an Indian immigrant in Ireland.

Vincent Moon’s Live Cinema, Abbeystrewry Church, Skibbereen, €20, 8pm: The French film-maker presents a collage of experiences drawn from his personal archive, Petites Planètes. Part of the Skibbereen Arts Festival.

Castletownbere Festival Of The Sea, free: Running over Saturday and Sunday. Enjoy a packed programme of family-friendly entertainment, live music, seafood, cultural displays, water-based activities, and local traditions.

Pride Family Picnic, Fitzgerald Park & Museum, Mardyke, free, noon: A newly-formed group of dedicated volunteers has come together to ensure that Cork will celebrate Pride this year with a vibrant and inclusive weekend line-up. See corkcommunitypride.ie for more.

Sunday

Youghal Medieval Festival, St Mary’s College Gardens, free, 11am-5pm: The town’s historic Raleigh Quarter is transformed into a vibrant celebration of the town’s rich medieval heritage, offering a full day of free family entertainment, interactive experiences and cultural activities.
