Saturday

Zog, The Everyman, €20-26, 1.30pm: Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s classic, feelgood story is brought to roaring, soaring life in this delightful musical for children.

Mary’s Hopes And Dreams, Cork Arts Theatre, €18, 8pm: Final show. Written and performed by Michael Ryan and Seán Kelleher, this comedy is an exploration of life in contemporary rural Ireland.

Sunday

Swan Lake, Cork Opera House, €36, 2pm & 7pm: For the first time, the internationally recognised Sofia City Ballet perform their critically acclaimed production, set to Tchaikovsky’s delightful score.

MUSIC

Saturday

Remembering Joe Dolan, Cork Opera House, €32, 8pm: 19 years since his death, the music of the singer is a popular as ever. This show features members of his original band.

Arundón, Marina Market, 2pm: A mixture of traditional and contemporary Irish music, led by the mystical sounds of the Uilleann and Pan Pipes.

Ceol Chorcaí, Cork City Hall, €10 adults, €5 children, 8pm: A huge celebration of Irish music, song and dance, showcasing some of Cork county’s finest traditional musicians, singers and dancers.

Savoy, €20, 7.30pm: An incredible night of DJ music, with one room featuring the legendary Donald Dineen and his seemingly infinite collection of records and the guys behind Sunday Times! taking command of the other room.

Fred Zeppelins, Parliament St, €10, 9pm: Martina And The Moons, an all-female four-piece band who combine varied influences such as Joni Mitchell, 90s britpop and punk rock

Sunday

Afternoon céilí, Cork City Hall, 2pm: ‘Called’ by William Hammond of the Cork Folk Festival in great style, with music provided by Ger Murphy and Ken Carter.

Rory’s Birthday Party, Kino, Washington St, €18.50, 7pm: Featuring East West Assembly, an 11-piece band performing high energy soul-influenced music, along with DJs Tama Sumo and Lakuti who are flying in from Berlin.

OTHER EVENTS

Saturday

City Limits – The Cork Comedy Club, Patrick Murray and guests, 8pm: Patrick is one of the top acts in Ireland right now. Tickets on the door or email tickets@thecomedyclub.ie.

Sunday

IFI, Rún Cheanannais Mhóir (The Secret of Kells), Briery Gap, Macroom, €8/€10 adult, 3pm: Screened in Irish, Kilkenny’s Cartoon Saloon produce this beautiful and intricate hand-drawn animation, telling the story of young monk Brendan who is learning how to illuminate manuscripts.

Jane Campion Season, Triskel Arts Centre, €8, 4pm: A season of films by New Zealand director Jane Campion starts with The Portrait Of A Lady, a 1996 romantic drama starring Nicole Kidman and John Malkovich. about an innocent young woman of manipulated by others.
