Robin Hood and the Babes in the Woods, Firkin Crane, 6pm: The Montfort College of Performing Arts present their 32nd annual panto, featuring traditional characters intertwined with a modern twist. Tickets €25.

The Improv Panto, Cork Opera House, 10.30pm: An uproarious, completely unscripted performance where YOU, the audience, get to choose the story. Tickets €25.

The Cork Opera House & Neville Jewellers Panto – Cinderella, Cork Opera House, 6pm: Join Cinderella and a host of lovable companions in a spectacular show. Tickets €25.

MUSIC

Saturday

Houseplants, Cyprus Avenue, 7pm: The project of producer Daithí and Paul Noonan of Bell X1, HousePlants have been touring as a 5-piece band. Tickets €22.50.

The Fogues, The Bush Bar, Millstreet, 10pm: A night of trad from the popular band. Tickets €12.

Sunday

Joe Mac, Canty’s, 6pm: One of the best-known faces of the showband group The Dixies. Free admission.

The Tan Jackets, Crane Lane, 11.30pm: The Covers of songs by bands often referred to as punk and ’60s psychedelia. Free admission.

Maria Callas: The Final Act, BBC2, 9pm: Angelina Jolie’s performance as the great opera star in the biopic Maria is gaining plaudits ahead of its cinema release next month, but here’s a chance to learn more about Callas via a documentary that aims to explode several myths about her.

Streaming

Squid Game, Netflix: The first run of this South Korean thriller series took the world by storm in 2021. The sequel picks up with competitor Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) acting on his promise to find out who is behind the competition.

The Road Trip, Paramount+, Thu: Based on a novel by Beth O’Leary, this six-part romantic comedy-drama is a witty, engaging tale that stars Emma Appleton as Addie, who is on a road trip with her sister Deb (Isabella Laughland) to Spain, where they are due to attend a friend’s wedding.
