Cork features in new TV series 'Julia Bradbury's Irish Journey'
Among them are a four-year stint on Watchdog, five years on Countryfile, and, in recent years, Best Walks With A View and Britain’s Best Walks.
Julia, who moved to the UK when she was young, continues that outdoor presenting theme as she heads to the land of her birth to present the new series, Julia Bradbury’s Irish Journey, which starts on Channel 4 on Saturday October 7, at 8.35pm.
The plan is for the 53-year-old to learn more about the culture and history of her native land, taking in both its natural landscapes and vibrant cities.
Her journey begins in the south of Ireland, as she travels from the green fields of Tipperary to the coastline of West Cork.
Along the way, Julia calls in at Cashel, and sees its impressive medieval abbeys.
Then, in Cork, she discovers why Kinsale has become the destination of choice for foodies.
But there’s also a history lesson about the Irish potato famine waiting for her at Skibbereen.
Born in Dublin in 1970, Julia’s father Michael was a steel and engineering industry marketing director, and her mother was Greek.
The family returned to Britain, where Julia grew up in an old rectory in the English midlands.
Walking has become a big theme of her TV work, and she has toured Australia, the Greek Islands, Cornwall and Devon, and Orkney.
The presenter announced she had been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2021, and recorded a programme about her journey last year.
