A Cork County Boxing Board selection will take on a Louth County Board selection, headed up by IABA President Anto Donnelly, at the Na Piarsaigh Hurling and Football Club for charity on Saturday, October 24th at 4pm.

The two charities that will benefit from all funds raised are Cork Arc Centre and Ronald McDonald House and these charities were chosen by two fantastic boxing people, Peter Higgins and Patrick Fitzgibbon, who are directly affected by cancer.

"To everyone supporting our Cork v Louth Charity Boxing Event, my name is Peter Higgins, and I coach at Mayfield Boxing Club in Cork.

"I was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a stage 4 brain cancer.

"I'm facing it the way I've taught my fighters to face anything: one round at a time.

"The love I've received from everyone at the club has carried me.

"The coaches, boxers, and their families have lifted me on the days I needed it most, and I can't thank them enough.

This event on October 24th at Na Piarsaigh GAA Club is in aid of two causes close to my heart.

"Cork ARC does remarkable work for people affected by cancer.

"The quality of their care and support is something I'm lucky to have, and I know how many others depend on it.

"Ronald McDonald House keeps families close when it matters most, and that's a gift to any family in a hard time.

"Please come along, bring your family and bring your friends. Every ticket helps.

"Together, we can make a difference," Peter Higgins said.

The other organiser of the event is Patrick Fitzgibbon.

"My name is Patrick Fitzgibbon.

"I've been involved in boxing since as long as I can remember.

"I coach and help out at Muskerry BC in Ballincollig.

"Some may know, some others won't but our amazing daughter Millie was diagnosed with cancer last October at just six months old.

"What she endured for the past year I'd rather not put in to words.

"The amazing news is that she won her fight.

"The reality is we could not have won without the support of Ronald McDonald House.

"We couldn't put a monetary value on the burden they took off us, to allow us stay in Dublin and be in the corner as Millie fought her fight.

"People may not be aware of them and the work they do, and neither were we until they jumped in without question and cornered beside us when we needed help the most.

"The Cork County Boxing Board have kindly offered to run an amazing day of boxing where all proceeds on the day will go towards Ronald McDonald House and the Cork ARC centre, who provide amazing support for people effected by cancer.

"By supporting the show, you will be also enabling both charities to continue their amazing work.

"Together we can make a differance."
