The SE Systems Senior Camogie Championship final on Sunday between St Finbarr's and Blackrock will no doubt take centre stage, but also down for decision over the weekend are the SE Systems Premier Intermediate, Intermediate and Junior C camogie finals on what is another busy calendar of games.
In the SE Systems Premier Intermediate Camogie championship final, neighbours Ballygarvan and Ballinhassig meet in MTU, tomorrow, Saturday at 3.30pm, and it promises to be a cracking final.
Ballygarvan had a 2-21 to 0-7 semi-final victory over Fr O'Neill's in a clash where they were in control all through the game.
Cork senior star Izzie O'Regan is one of their key players.
Having made a successful recovery forma cruciate injury last season, O'Regan was one of the stars of Cork's All-Ireland win, and is a nominee for an All Star award.
Michaela Buckley, Cliona O'Leary, Ellen O’Regan and Rachel O’Regan are amongst those who have given years of service to Ballygarvan.
They came through the group stages undefeated, with victories over Newcestown, Ballyhea and Enniskeane.
They had an impressive quarter final win over Watergrashill, 2-15 to 0-9, before going on to defeat Fr O'Neill's in the semi final.
Ballinhassig had to battle to the finish to get the upper hand on an Inniscarra side who this season were participating at premier Intermediate having dropped down from senior.
They were tipped to make it to the final, but a determined Ballinhassig side recorded a one point victory on a 2-11 to 1-13 score line.
At half time, Ballinhassig led by two points, and despite a strong Inniscarra rally, Ballinhassig held their nerve to run out winners.
In their path to the final, Ballinhassig lost their opening round game to Inniscarra 3-10 to 0-13.
They had a goal to space over Charleville in a tight contest before going on to draw with Ballinascarthy.
They had a big victory over Clonakilty in their quarter final clash before going on to turn the tables on Inniscarra with their semi-final display and win.
Former Cork senior and veteran of the Ballinhassig side is Eimear O'Sullivan, and she is ably assisted by Millie and Aisling Lombard, Eimear Casey and Catriona Collins.
With just a few short miles dividing the club's, it promises to be an exciting contest with the big prize promotion to senior for the winner.
On Sunday, at 1pm in MTU, Sliabh Rua and Newtownshandrum will meet in the curtain raiser to the senior final as they bid for the S E Systems Intermediate Camogie title.
Sliabh Rua overcame Valley Rovers in their semi-final clash.
In the group stages, they overcame Na Piarsaigh, Sarsfields 2, Douglas and Kilbrittain Timoleague, with Claire Bernard, Gillian O'Leary and Orlaith Cummins all playing prominent roles.
Newtownshandrum defeated Kilbrittain / Timoleague in their semi-final outing.
In the group stages, they defeated Aghada and St Finbarr's 2, but lost out to Valley Rovers.
They will call on Fiona Troy, Aoife Twohill, Eve O'Donoghue and Caoilainn Ryan to lead their challenge.
The SE Systems Junior C camogie final goes ahead tomorrow in Castle Road at 12 noon, where St Colm’s and St Vincent’s meet.
St Colm’s lost out at semi-final stage last season and they will be hoping to improve on that this time out.
St Vincent's, having dropped down a grade this year, have made it to the final.
They overcame Dungourney in the semi-final, whilst St Colm’s overcame Bandon.
Cork senior team mates will be in opposite corners with Amy O'Connor and Libby Coppinger in opposition this time out.
