Ray Keane has stepped down as Aghabullogue manager after three seasons.

The Éire Óg man leaves with a strong body of work behind him, having guided Aghabullogue through promotions, championship breakthroughs and their first campaign at senior football level.

Keane’s arrival ahead of the 2024 season coincided with a growing belief within Aghabullogue that they could push into the higher tiers of Cork football.

The breakthrough came in 2025, a landmark year in which Aghabullogue captured the McCarthy Insurance Group PIFC title under Keane’s watch.

That run showcased their organisation, resilience and tactical clarity, and it delivered a historic promotion into the senior football ranks for the first time. That was after they won the Division 4 League crown in the same season.

Their first campaign in the SAFC this year brought predictable challenges, but Keane ensured they were never out of their depth. Aghabullogue avoided any relegation talk, a significant achievement for a newly promoted side.

They picked up two points and were competitive in the group stage.

Keane’s departure comes as his inter‑county commitments continue to grow. He oversaw a solid campaign with the Cork U20s this year, guiding a young group with the same clarity and composure he brought to club level.

He has another year left on his term, and his ongoing involvement there is viewed as a major positive for Cork football.
